Star speedster Brydon Carse is set to miss Sunrisers Hyderabad’s (SRH) IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). SRH will take on KKR in their second match of the season on Thursday, April 2, at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. Carse is sidelined due to a hand injury he sustained during a practice session.
Why Brydon Carse will miss KKR clash?
Carse had already missed SRH’s opening match of IPL 2026 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on March 28 because his hand injury had not fully healed. The English all-rounder also missed the 2025 IPL season due to injury, making his fitness a key concern for SRH.

Who might replace Brydon Carse?
In Carse’s absence, SRH will rely on David Payne from England and Eshan Malinga from Sri Lanka as their two overseas fast bowlers. Payne made a strong impression on his IPL debut against RCB at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, picking up 2 wickets in 3 overs.

Carse is the second speedster who will miss SRHJ's clash vs KKR as their regular captain, Pat Cummins, is already ruled out of the first half of IPL 2026. Notably, Cummins, who is currently on the road to recovery, has already joined SRH’s squad in India, and the team will hope for his mid-season return to strengthen their bowling attack.
How KKR and SRH performed in their IPL 2026 opener?
Notably. SRH are coming after a massive defeat against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in the opening clash of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026. Defending champions RCB defeated them by six wickets after chasing down a 201 runs in 15.4 overs.
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) also had a disappointing start to the season. In their first match at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai on March 29, they posted a competitive 220 runs, but the Mumbai Indians chased the target in 19.1 overs.
