KKR's Angkrish Raghuvanshi ruled out of IPL 2026 due to finger injury

This came ahead of KKR's crucial clash against DC, which will decide their playoff fate

In a big setback for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), their star wicketkeeper-batter Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been officially ruled out for the remainder of the IPL 2026 season due to injury. The franchise confirmed the unfortunate development through a social media post on X.

KKR's Angrish Raghuvanshi to miss remainder of IPL 2026

"Angkrish Raghuvanshi has been ruled out of 2026 TATA Indian Premier League after sustaining a concussion and a fracture to a finger on his left hand while attempting a catch during Kolkata Knight Riders’ match against Mumbai Indians on Wednesday, 20 May," KKR's official statement read.

The injury occurred during KKR’s recent high-stakes clash against the Mumbai Indians, where Raghuvanshi suffered a severe on-field collision with teammate Varun Chakaravarthy. Following the impact, the youngster began experiencing symptoms of dizziness, headache, and neck discomfort, prompting the medical team to immediately substitute him out of the game for Tejasvi Dahiya. Under mandatory ICC concussion regulations, any player diagnosed with a concussion must undergo a strict seven-day stand-down period, but his symptoms have ultimately proven severe enough to sideline him completely.

KKR's playoff hopes hang by thread

This injury comes at a crucial juncture for the three-time champions, who have managed to revive their playoff aspirations despite an initially dreadful start to their season. Now led by veteran batsman Ajinkya Rahane, Kolkata currently sits in sixth place on the points table, firmly in the hunt for a postseason berth as the tournament reaches its business end.

KKR are scheduled to face the eighth-placed Delhi Capitals in the 70th game of the tournament at the iconic Eden Gardens on May 24. Navigating this vital fixture without Raghuvanshi's services will force a tactical reshuffle in the batting order. With their playoff destiny no longer entirely in their own hands, KKR will not only need to secure a victory on home turf but will also be anxiously relying on other mathematical results across the league to fall in their favor.

We wish him a speedy and complete recovery.
