Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) have received a major boost as their star player Mayank Yadav is set to get the green signal from Centre of Excellence (formerly known as National Cricket Academy) to join the franchise's camp. Mayank is likely to join LSG on April 15.
"His reports are fine and he will be given green signal by this evening (April 14) officially. In all likelihood, Mayank to join sqaud tomorrow (April 15). His availability for the matches for LSG will be decided by the coaches based on the practice sessions," a source close the development told Sports Tak.
"A close family member who in Begaluru currently also confirmed the development. The source expressed happiness of his comeback and said 'we are happy that he will be in action again'."
LSG are scheduled to take on MS Dhoni's Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 14 at home. Their next encounter is away from home against Rajasthan Royals (RR) at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur on April 19. Mayank is likely to make his first appearance in the ongoing IPL 2025 against Sanju Samson's side.
Who will Mayank replace in LSG side?
The express pacer is likely to replace Akash Deep in the side. He may be used as their impact player. So far, Akash has been expensive. He has taken three wickets from as many games. In the match against Gujarat Titans (GT), he remained wicketless and conceded 33 runs. His most expensive spell of the season came against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the high-scoring encounter. He got two crucial wickets but conceded 55 runs from his quota of four overs.

LSG are currently placed fourth on the points table with four wins from six games. While their captain Rishabh Pant is yet to fire, the top-order has been tremendous form. Nicholas Pooran is the orange cap holder and has been smashing sixes at ease. Openers Mitchell Marsh and Aiden Markram have made valuable contributions as well. In the bowling department, replacement pacer Shardul Thakur is a contender for purple cap. Also, rookie spinner Digvesh Rathi has taken eight wickets from six games including a few big names.
