Delhi Capitals veteran wicketkeeper batter KL Rahul has been injured during the team's practice sessions ahead of their upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against the Mumbai Indians. The DC are scheduled to face MI for their must-win clash for the playoffs qualifier, which will take place on May 21 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
As per the reports, KL Rahul left the field midway during the team's practice sessions when a ball bowled by Mukesh Kumar hit him on the knee. However, there is no update on his injury yet. DC, who were off to a good start in the 18th edition of the cash-rich league, are currently fifth in the points table after six wins in 12 outings. They lost their last clash against the Gujarat Titans (GT) by 10 wickets at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
He was finally promoted to open the innings in the last game against the Gujarat Titans, and he grabbed the opportunity with both hands. KL Rahul scored an unbeaten century, although his effort eventually went in vain as Delhi Capitals suffered a crushing 10-wicket loss.
DC also shared a clip where KL Rahul can be seen at Wankhede Stadium in front of Rohit Sharma's stand which was inaugurated on May 16. This will be the first time that Rohit will feature at Wankhede after the inauguration of a stand named after him.
KL Rahul is a vital cog for DC as the Karnataka-based batter scored 438 runs in his 11 IPL 2025 outings. He has scored at an average of 61.63, notching up 3 half-centuries and a century as well.
The reports further added that KL Rahul is fine to feature in DC's upcoming do-or-die clash against the Mumbai Indians.
