15-year-old batting sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has taken Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 by storm, just like he did in the previous season. He is raising the bar match by match. This explosive start has not only made him a frontrunner for the season's Orange Cap but has also catapulted him into the global spotlight.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi wants to fulfill other half of his father's dream

His back-to-back batting heroics have sparked speculation about his future, with reports suggesting he is on the cusp of a debut for the Indian national team in the T20 format. Amidst this rising fame, a video of the left-handed batter has surfaced in which he expresses a clear and focused ambition: to replicate his domestic success on the international stage for the senior Indian squad. When discussing his approach at the crease, Sooryavanshi demonstrates a maturity beyond his years. He notes that his primary goal is to spend as much time as possible in the middle, regardless of the scoreboard. His mindset remains anchored in the belief that as long as he is batting, he possesses the capability to anchor the innings and lead his team to victory.

"Main jitni der bhi ground pe hoon, utni der mein dominate karke agar khelu, to match unke haath se chheen sakta hoon (For whatever duration I am on the ground, as long as I am using my skills, dominate and play, I can snatch the match from opponents' hands)," Sooryavanshi said in a video on Doordarshan.

I need to play in the World Cup for the senior Indian team: Vaibhav Sooryavanshi

According to the young batter, his focus is already shifting toward his long-term international future. While he recognizes that participating in the IPL is a significant achievement, he considers it only half of his ultimate dream. The remaining portion of his goal remains unfulfilled until he earns a spot on the senior Indian team and competes in a World Cup.
Sooryavanshi currently holds the fourth position in the race for the Orange Cap, having accumulated 246 runs across six matches.

"I also spoke to my father. He said I have fulfilled half of his dream, but half is still left. I need to play in the World Cup for the senior Indian team. Abhi mera poora focus isi par hai ki senior India ke liye jitna ho sake utna contribute karun (Of course, every player shares the same dream: to play for the seniors and win for their country, India. That is my focus for India)," he added.
