MS Dhoni creates history during IPL 2025 clash vs LSG, becomes first player to achieve this legendary feat

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper batter MS Dhoni became the first player in IPL history to record 200 dismissals in the competition. In Match 30 of the Indian Premier League 2025 (IPL 2025), Dhoni accomplished the feat against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Ayush Badoni of LSG was stumped by Raviindra Jadeja in the 14th over, becoming the 200th victim of Dhoni's deft glovework.

Dhoni creates historic record

Consequently, Dhoni became the first player in the history of the league to record 200 dismissals, leaving his name inscribed with golden words in IPL legend. The CSK captain caused three dismissals during the game, with excellent glovework behind the stumps.

He collected Rishabh Pant's catch to eliminate the LSG captain on 63 (49), having previously stumped Badoni. Additionally, he made a spectacular run out of Abdul Samad by hitting the non-striker directly after collecting a wide ball down the leg side from Matheesha Pathirana. After his incredible performance, Dhoni now has 201 IPL dismissals from 270 innings, which includes 46 stumpings and 155 catches.

Meanwhile, captain Rishabh Pant finally regained his form, batting 63 (49), as LSG established a respectable score of 166/7 in their allocated 20 overs. Abdul Samad (20 off 11), Ayush Badoni (22 off 17), and Mitchell Marsh (30 off 25) all provided him with strong support. Anshul Kamboj (1/20, 3 overs) and Noor Ahmad (0/13) bowled frugal spells for CSK, while Ravindra Jadeja (2/24, 3 overs) and Matheesha Pathirana (2/45) were among the wickets taken.
