On December 9, the Indian Premier League (IPL) announced the list of 350 shortlisted players who will go under the hammer in the mini-auction scheduled to take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. The list included 35 late entries, featuring 12 overseas players as well, headlined by South Africa’s veteran wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock.

Overseas players: Arab Gul (Afghanistan), Miles Hammond (England), Dan Lategan (England), Quinton de Kock (South Africa) Connor Eztherhuizen (South Africa), George Linde (South Africa), Bayanda Majola (South Africa), Traveen Mathew (Sri Lanka), Binura Fernando (Sri Lanka), Kusal Perera (Sri Lanka), Dunith Wellalage (Sri Lanka), Akeem Auguste (West Indies).

Indian players: Sadek Hussain, Vishnu Solanki, Sabir Khan, Brijesh Sharma, Kanishk Chouhan, Aaron George, Jikku Bright, Srihari Nair, Madhav Bajaj, Shreevathsa Acharya, Yashraj Punja, Sahil Parakh, Roshan Waghsare, Yash Dicholkar, Ayaz Khan, Dhurmil Matkar, Naman Pushpak, Parikshit Valsangkar, Purav Agarwal, Rishabh Chouhan, Sagar Solanki, Izaz Sawariya and Aman Shekawat.

The return of De Kock; Sri Lankan eyes comeback after 12 years

The opener was released by Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) ahead of the auction. For the mini-auction, he has halved his base price to Rs 1 crore. On his ODI comeback, De Kock has scored a century each against Pakistan and India. He will have a chance to turn franchises' heads in the five-T20I series against India starting on December 9.

Apart from De Kock, Kusal Perera is the only player among the 12 late overseas entries who has played in the IPL. The 35-year-old made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2013. He scored just 14 runs from two innings.

Slots and purse left for franchises

The list of 350 players includes 240 Indians and 110 overseas candidates. However, there are a maximum of 77 spots available, including 31 overseas.

A combined purse of 237.55 crore will be available. KKR have most money in the bag at Rs 64.30 crore whereas Mumbai Indians (MI) are expected to be least busy with Rs 2.75 crore available to spend.
