Ravindra Jadeja returns to the field when he plays for Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in their opening IPL 2025 match. On March 23, the five-time IPL champions will play the Mumbai Indians (MI) at home. In the league's 18th edition, Ruturaj Gaikwad will remain in charge of the Yellow Army. Jadeja will make history and reach a significant milestone in the T20 competition as he plays his 12th season with CSK.
The talented all-rounder has the potential to become the first player in IPL history to take 150 wickets and score 3000 runs. In his 240 IPL games to date, Jadeja, who debuted for the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in 2008, has amassed 2959 runs and 160 wickets. He needs just 41 more runs to reach the 3000-run milestone.
Jadeja began his IPL career with RR and was a member of the Shane Warne-led team that won the T20 league's first season. In the 2011 IPL, he was a member of Kochi Tuskers Kerala.
He joined CSK after being much sought after in the IPL 2012 mini-auction. Before the 2014 IPL mega-auction, CSK kept him. In the IPL in 2016 and 2018, Jadeja was a member of the Gujarat Lions. He returned to CSK before the 2018 Indian Premier League and has remained with them ever since.
Before the 2022 IPL, Ravindra Jadeja was named captain of CSK. Despite their struggles, the Yellow Army won two of their eight games under his direction. After eight games, MS Dhoni took his place as captain.
Despite being fired, Jadeja remained with CSK and was instrumental in their sixth IPL championship victory in 2023. Prior to the IPL 2025 mega-auction, Jadeja was CSK's joint-highest-paid recruitment. For Rs 18 crore apiece, CSK kept him and Ruturaj Gaikwad. In the uncapped category, Dhoni was kept for Rs 4 crore.
