Rishabh Pant's furious reaction goes viral as Shardul Tahkur bowls five consecutive wides vs KKR

During the second innings of the match at Eden Gardens on Tuesday, April 8, the bowler for the Lucknow Super Giants, Shardul Thakur, gave up five straight wides in a single over against the Kolkata Knight Riders, leaving Rishabh Pant furious. After LSG scored 238 runs in their innings, the incident happened in the thirteenth over of KKR's run chase. Shardul bowled wide yorkers in the first deliveries of the over, leaving KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane in his wake.

The LSG pacer had a terrible time with the next one, which was likewise a wide yorker. Once more, the fourth delivery was completely out of the ordinary. Although Pant praised his effort, Shardul believed he had made a legal delivery on the sixth try, but it was just outside the tramline. Shardul requested a review, therefore, Wide was supplied once more.

Pant, however, appeared upset and chose to decline the offer because he just had one review left. At last, Rahane drove a low full-toss that Shardul bowled to the long-off for a single. It was a legal delivery. Shardul's misfortune continued when Rahane's top edge went over Pant's head and for a boundary on the fourth legal ball of the over. As KKR lost their third wicket, Shardul finally had cause to celebrate when Rahane smashed a full delivery from him straight to Nicholas Pooran.

LSG did not bowl with discipline at the Eden Gardens thus far, giving up 19 wides before the 19th over. With eight thus far, Shardul has given up the most, followed by Akash Deep with seven and Ravi Bishnoi with three.

In IPL 2025, the Lucknow Super Giants are undoubtedly but slowly finding their calling. They are starting to see dividends from their strategy of amassing commanding totals and giving their underrated bowling attack the luxury of a cushion. Tuesday at Eden Gardens was a prime example of that pattern, as LSG amassed a commanding 238 in their 20 overs and then maintained composure to defend it by four runs, securing their third victory in five games this season
