LSG gets big boost ahead IPL 2025.

Australia all-rounder Mitchell Marsh has been permitted to participate in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL), but only as a batter. After speaking with a back specialist, the 33-year-old, who had doubts about his availability for his new team, the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has finally been cleared to play. Marsh's participation in the 2025 Indian Premier League was initially questioned due to a lower-back ailment that kept him out of Australia's Champions Trophy campaign.

However, as per ESPNCricinfo report, Marsh has received medical approval to play, albeit with significant restrictions, following rehabilitation and a medical evaluation. He has been seeing a back expert since early February 2025, and the specialist has instructed him not to bowl or field in a way that puts undue strain on his back.

Because of this constraint, Marsh may be able to play a more specialized role as an impact player for LSG, which already has a strong batting lineup that includes Nicholas Pooran, David Miller, and captain Rishabh Pant. Even though Marsh's bowling is off the table, his middle order experience and adaptability might make him a useful asset.

Marsh missed Champions Trophy due to this injury

Since Marsh has been an integral part of Australia's white-ball setup throughout the years, his absence was a major blow to their chances of winning the Champions Trophy. But he has not been playing well lately. After struggling with the bat and the ball in recent games, Marsh was eventually left off of Australia's Test team for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy final against India, where Beau Webster replaced him.

Following the Test series, the all-rounder participated in just one Big Bash League (BBL) game on January 7. In order to recuperate both physically and psychologically before the Champions Trophy, he therefore decided to miss the final three games of the season. Regretfully, he had to withdraw from the event since his back problems continued. Marsh, who has been cleared to play in the 2025 Indian Premier League, will try to use his bat to help LSG win their maiden IPL championship. Marsh's presence in the middle order could be crucial to LSG's campaign despite his limitations.
