Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) are almost eliminated from the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Ahead of their 11th game of the season, SRH have announced replacement for an injured uncapped player Smaran Ravichandran. Interestingly, Ravichandran was roped in as Australian leg-spinner Adam Zampa's replacement three weeks ago.
22-year-old Karnataka batter Ravichandran's injury has not been specified. His replacement his left-arm spinner from Vidarbha, Harsh Dubey. He scripted history in Ranji Trophy 2024-25 by taking most wickets in a season. He claimed 69 wickets and broke the record held by Biahar's Ashutosh Aman who took 68 wickets in the 2018-19 season.
Dubey has been roped in for his base price of Rs 30 lakh. It is not clear whether he will get a game straightaway despite the lack of a quality in-form spinner in SRH side.
Dubey's record in domestic cricket
The 22-year-old Dubey has played 18 first-class games and claimed 97 wickets at an average of 19.98 including eigth five-wicket hauls and two 10-wicket hauls. In One-Day cricket, he bowls with a good economy rate and has taken 21 wickets from 20 games. His economy rate is under seven in T20s. So far, he has scalped nine wickets from 16 games in the short format. He may come in handy with the bat lower down the order and not just an impact player. He has seven fifties in first-class and two in List A (One-Day).
The Pat Cummins-led SRH are currently placed ninth on the points table with seven losses from 10 games. Their next match is against Axar Patel's Delhi Capitals (DC) at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad on May 5.
