Royal Challengers Bengaluru put on a strong all-round show to beat Chennai Super Kings by 43 runs in their IPL 2026 match at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to register their second consecutive win of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026.
RCB’s win was built on a powerful batting display, led by Tim David, Rajat Patidar and Devdutt Padikkal, followed by a solid bowling effort from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who picked up three wickets.
RCB's batting
Batting first, RCB posted a huge total of 250 for 3. Padikkal gave them a steady start with a well-made 50 off 29 balls, his second fifty in a row this season. After that, Patidar and David took charge and finished the innings in style.
David was the star with an unbeaten 70 off just 25 balls, while Patidar remained not out on 48 from only 19 balls. The two added 99 runs together in just 35 balls, hitting big shots all around the ground and putting CSK’s bowlers under pressure.
David went on the attack in the final overs, smashing multiple sixes, including four in one over off Jamie Overton. His quick half-century came in just 21 balls, and his hitting even had Virat Kohli cheering from the dugout. RCB scored 97 runs in the last five overs, which helped them reach such a big total.
CSK's chase
In reply, CSK struggled to keep up with the required run rate. Sarfaraz Khan played a quick innings of 50 off 24 balls, and Prashant Veer added 43, but the rest of the batting lineup could not make much impact.
CSK lost early wickets, including captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, and were under pressure from the start. Bhuvneshwar Kumar led the bowling attack well and also reached the milestone of 200 IPL wickets during the match.
At one stage, CSK were in deep trouble, and even though there was a brief fightback in the middle overs, they kept losing wickets at key moments. Jamie Overton tried to add some late runs, but it was not enough.
In the end, CSK were bowled out for 207 in 19.4 overs, falling short by 43 runs. With this win, RCB also registered their fourth straight victory over CSK, something they had never achieved before in IPL history.
It was a complete performance from RCB, with both bat and ball clicking at the right time, while CSK could not match their intensity on the day.
