Mohammed Siraj yet again talked through his tough phase following Champions Trophy snub

Mohammed Siraj revealed that it was Virat Kohli who backed him all through his down time

Following a period of disappointment, Mohammed Siraj has emerged as a standout performer with the ball for the Gujarat Titans in the ongoing IPL 2025 season. His contributions have been instrumental to the team's sensational campaign, evidenced by his position among the tournament's leading wicket-takers, having bagged 11 wickets in just seven matches for the Gujarat-based franchise.

Prior to his stellar performances for GT in the ongoing IPL, Siraj encountered a series of setbacks. He faced exclusion from India's white-ball squads and subsequently was released by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), a franchise he had been associated with for seven seasons in the IPL. Further adding to his challenges, the talented fast bowler was also notably absent from India's squad for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. This omission sparked considerable discussion among cricket enthusiasts and experts alike. Siraj had himself acknowledged the universal aspiration of cricketers to participate in ICC events, admitting that missing out was a difficult experience. However, rather than succumbing to disappointment, he channeled that feeling into a driving force.

Choosing not to dwell on the opportunities he had missed, Siraj instead dedicated himself to refining his cricketing skills. He intensified his training, determined to demonstrate that adversity could serve as a catalyst for growth and resilience in a true competitor. These challenges did not break Siraj's spirit, instead, they ignited a renewed determination within him, ultimately leading to a remarkable comeback with his new team, Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2025.

Gujarat Titans demonstrated their faith in the talent of Siraj. The 2022 IPL champions secured his services at the IPL 2025 mega Auction for a whopping sum of Rs 12.25 crore.

“For a professional, an ICC event is incredibly important. I've always dreamed of playing in the Champions Trophy & doing well for my country, but perhaps it wasn't written in my destiny. It was difficult to reconcile, but I made peace with myself, focusing on improving and performing better. That has given me immense motivation,” Siraj was quoted as saying by Cricbuzz.
