Virat Kohli talked about his future plans amidst the speculations around his retirement. As discussions surrounding Virat Kohli's retirement continue, the superstar batter has offered a glimpse into his post-cricket plans.
However, Kohli made it clear that he is not making any announcement anytime soon.
"Don’t get nervous. I’m not making any announcements. As of now, everything is fine. I still love playing the game. It pretty much comes down to just the pure joy, enjoyment, competitive streak, and love for the game. And as long as that is there, I will continue to play. As I said today, I am not playing for any achievement," Kohli said at the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) Innovation Lab Indian Sports Summit.
But when Kohli was asked about his future plans, he hinted that extensive travel is likely to be a prominent activity in his retirement plans, suggesting a desire to explore the world after his long and demanding cricketing career.
"I actually don't know what I will be doing post retirement, recently I asked a teammate the same question, and got the same reply. Yeah but may be a lot of traveling," Kohli added.
Kohli recently articulated his broader vision for Indian cricket, stating that his role extends beyond merely securing ICC trophies. He said that he is committed towards placing the Indian Team in stronger position when he eventually retires. This sentiment was expressed after India's recent win over New Zealand, where they clinched their third Champions Trophy title with a four-wicket win.
"When you leave, you want to leave the team in a better place, I feel we've a squad that's ready to take on the world for the next eight years. It's been amazing, we wanted to bounce back after a tough Australian tour, and wanted to win a big tournament, so to win the Champions Trophy is amazing," Kohli had said after India's Champions Trophy title triumph.
Kohli was a key contributor to India's successful campaign, amassing 218 runs in five matches and securing fifth place on the tournament's leading run-scorers list.
"Winning four ICC titles is truly a blessing, and I consider myself very lucky to have played for so long and achieved this," Kohli signed off.
