Australia speedster Mitchell Starc, who was part of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, will reportedly miss the remainder of the tournament. He has returned home to Sydney after an initial stint with the Delhi-based franchise. It seems that the legendary speedster will prepare for the upcoming World Test Championship (WTC) final, which will take place in June.
A video is going viral on a social sphere where Strac can be seen at the airport handling his luggage, and a fan came to capture him, and the speedster can be seen repeatedly asking the fan who is taking the video to “Go away,” making shooing gestures. Here is the clip.
As per a report by Australia's News Nine, DC's left-arm pacer Mitchell Starc who was picked for 11.75 crore, may not return for the remainder of the IPL. The Australian news outlet said that Starc's manager informed them about the development. Apart from Starc, there are a lot of overseas players whose participation is not confirmed in the remainder of the suspended IPL 2025.
Starc's performance in IPL 2025
Starc has been expensive as he has conceded runs at 10.23 runs per over but he is DC's leading wicket-taker. Starc has 14 wickets, including a five-wicket haul. In the match against PBKS, which was cancelled, the left-arm pacer had conceded 23 runs from two overs.
IPL 2025 was suspended due to the border tensions between India and Pakistan border tensions after 'Operation Sindoor'. The Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' to counter terrorism in the neighbouring nation. The operation involved deep strikes inside Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
Following the situation, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) suspended the cash-rich league for a week. IPL 2025 is scheduled to start from May 17 and the first match will be played between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. DC will face the Gujarat Titans (GT) on May 18 at Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.
