Mumbai Indians will lock horns against Gujarat Titans in their upcoming IPL 2026 clash on Monday, April 20 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Amid the losing streak, the Hardik Pandya-led side received a big boost in their batting line-up.

Rohit to return against GT?

According to viral video clip on social media, MI star opener Rohit Sharma has resumed batting practice in the nets, opening a possibility of him playing the game against Shubman Gill's GT.

In the video clip, Rohit was seen doing batting in the nets at the Narendra Modi Stadium. Appearing in  in sublime touch, Rohit was fluently playing along the ground shots with nice timing.

What happened to Rohit Sharma?

In MI's defeat against RCB, Rohit Sharma had to leave the ground in the sixth over of due to a hamstring injury while batting at 19 off 13 balls. 

As a result, Rohit Sharma did feature in the loss against Punjab Kings. The former India skipper resuming batting again could be a big relief for the team management, as he is enjoying a fine season with the bat.

Big update on Rohit Sharma's fitness

After picking up a massive loss against PBKS, Jayawardene revealed that star opener Rohit Sharma has started running again, saying there is nothing serious to worry about. Although, the former Sri-Lankan player noted that they won't be pushing the former India captain as it is still early in the season.

"He started running yesterday; we'll take it day to day to see how he feels. He knows his body better than anybody else, so it's nothing serious. But at the same time, we don't want to push him as it's still early in the season," he said.    

 

 

Rohit Sharma's fine IPL 2026 season

After four games, Rohit Sharma has managed to amass 137 runs at a strike rate of 165.06 with the help of 13 fours and eight sixes in IPL 2026. After a great start to the season, the former India skipper stands at 13th place in the Orange Cap race.
