IPL 2025 mega auction: Mumbai Indians' (MI) bid to build a strong squad for the IPL 2025 seems to be well on track going by their acquisitions in the ongoing mega auction in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The five-time champions have been actively involved in the IPL 2025 mega auction, making some great additions to their squad. MI have bought several talented players, including Trent Boult, Robin Minz, Ryan Rickelton, Naman Dhir, Karn Sharma, and Deepak Chahar.

MI catches big fish Will Jacks in IPL 2025 mega auction 

The latest addition to MI's squad is England all-rounder Will Jacks, who has been on their radar since the start of the auction.

Mumbai Indians engaged in a competitive bidding war with Punjab Kings for the services of Will Jacks. The bidding reached Rs 5.25 crores, and Mumbai Indians were determined to secure the all-rounder's signature. Ultimately, they successfully bought Jacks for a price just under Rs 6 crores.

Notably, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) had the option to retain Jacks using their Right to Match (RTM) card, but they decided against it. This allowed MI to finalise the deal, adding another talented player to their already strong squad.

But a strange moment came to the fore during IPL 2025 auction when Mumbai Indians owner Akash Ambani stood up from his seat and rushed to the Royal Challengers Bangalore table. He was seen approaching RCB table and thanking the Bengaluru-based owner by shaking hands with him and team members, showcasing sportsmanship and respect, showing how important was the Jacks deal for them.

Will Jacks made his IPL debut in the previous season, showcasing his explosive batting abilities. In eight matches, he scored 230 runs at an impressive strike rate of 175.57, including a remarkable century off just 41 balls and a half-century. Additionally, he contributed with the ball, picking up two wickets as a part-time off-spinner. Overall, Jacks has a strong T20 record, having played 191 matches and scored 4847 runs at a strike rate of 157.62. He has also tonked four centuries and 32 half-centuries in the format.
