Former India cricketer Irfan Pathan lashed out at Sunrisers Hyderabad's bowling performance in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against Gujarat Titans (GT). The Pat Cummins-led side conceded 82 runs in the powerplay by the opening duo of Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
After winning the toss, SRH captain Pat Cummins opted to bowl, but the side failed to make any impact with the new ball. GT inform openers showcased a lethal batting performance after Shami was smashed for a six in the third ball of the innings. Both batters smashed the bowlers to all over the ground as GT scored 50 runs in the fourth over.
Sai Sudarshan smashed four fours off Mohammed Shami's second over. Skipper Pat Cummins and Harshal Patel were hit for 17 runs after coming into the attack in mid-overs of the powerplay. GT scored 82 runs in the powerplay, which is the highest in the franchise's history.
Irfan Pathan took his 'X' formerly known as Twitter to laud GT batters and also reckoned that SRH bowlers need to be better.
"Nothing taking away from GT batters but what an ordinary bowling so far from SRH. FULL. SHORT. WIDE. You expect better from the international bowlers. Full toss Bhi add kar do ab," Irfan Pathan posted on X.
Coming back to the match, GT scored Sai Sudarshan, Henrich Klassen and Shubman Gill smashed half-centuries, helping Gujarat Titans to put 224 runs on board. Jaydev Unadkat picked three wickets in the last over. Sunrisers Hyderabad need 225 runs to win this clash.
