Story Highlights:

Sam Billings contributed with a cameo in Lahore Qalandars' win.

Billings has played for CSK, KKR and Delhi Capitals in the IPL.

Billings said that every league in the world is behind the IPL.

England's wicketkeeper-batter Sam Billings who has played for three Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises could sense controversy from a mile away as Pakistani reporter asked him to compare Pakistan Super League (PSL) with India's premier T20 franchise tournament. Billings who last represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the 2022 edition said that not just PSL but every T20 league in the world is behind IPL. The Lahore Qalandars player feels that every league in the world is trying to follow the footsteps of the IPL.

"You want me to say something silly? It's hard to look past the IPL as the premier competition in the world, it's very obvious , every other competition is just behind. In England (T20 Blast and The Hundred), we are trying to do the same like PSL as the second best competition in world, Big Bash (BBL) too trying to do the same," said the 33-year-old in the press conference.

Billings has been in decent form of late. After the duck in campaign opener, Billings scored an unbeaten 19-ball fifty against Quetta Gladiators.

Fakhar, Mitchell hit fifties, Shaheen's new-ball spell leads to collapse

On April 14 at Nationa Stadium, Karachi, Shaheen Afridi-led Lahore Qalandars beat the hosts Karachi Kings. While Fakhar Zaman and Daryl Mitchell scored fifties, Billings contributed with a 10-ball 19 in the slog overs. He helped Lahore Qalandars post a challenging total of 201 for 6 despite Hasan Ali's four-wicket haul.

In the run chase, Karachi Kings lost early wickets. Skipper David Warner and centurion of previous match James Vince were dismissed for a two-ball duck each by Shaheen. Tim Seifert and Shan Masood contributed with 18 runs each before returning to the pavillion.

Big win for Lahore Qalandars

Khushdil Shah's 27-ball 39 was not enough to revive the run chase after Karachi Kings lost seven wickets for 50 runs. The partnership between Khushdil and Hasan helped Karachi Kings score 136 before they were bowled out in 19.1 overs.

Lahore Qalandars won the match by a huge margin of 65 runs. This is their second big win on the trot away from home after a comprehensive defeat to Isalamabad United in tournament opener. Their next match is an away game as well. They will go up against Mohammad Rizwan's Multan Sultans on April 22.
