The only change to the Indian squad from Tests against Bangladesh, is the exclusion of left-arm pacer Yash Dayal. The rest of the team remains unchanged. Moreover, the BCCI has named four reserve players for the match.

It will be a three-match series scheduled to be played at M.Chinnaswamy Stadium, Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, and Wankhede Stadium respectively. India is coming into this series on the back of a dominant 2-0 win against Bangladesh in the last home Test series. Rohit Sharma and Co would be looking to continue their winning run with the World Test Championship (WTC) final nearing. If Team India wins the series 3-0, it will be a big confidence booster for them, especially with the imminent Border Gavaskar Trophy 2024-2025.

Notably, the Kiwis have already announced their squad for the highly anticipated tour. Tom Latham will lead the Blackcaps' Test team for the first time as full-time captain. Latham previously captained the team in nine Test matches between 2020 and 2022 as interim skipper of the team. Tim Southee stepped down following the national team's 0-2 loss to Sri Lanka in their recent Test series.

Uncapped player Mark Chapman has been included in the squad as cover for Kane Williamson, who is likely to miss the start of the series due to a groin injury. Williamson may be available for selection later in the series.
