Indian young batter Shubman Gill has missed the spot in playing XI against New Zealand in the first Test match happening in M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Gill was last featured in the two-Test match series against Bangladesh where Rohit Sharma-led side whitewashed the series 2-0.
Indian captain Rohit Sharma at the toss said that Shubman Gill would miss the first Test match. Sarfaraz Khan will feature in Bengaluru in the absence of young batter. Soon after the toss, BCCI also revealed that Gill is unavailable due to neck stiffness.
"Update: Shubman Gill was unavailable for selection of the first Test due to a neck stiffness" posted BCCI.
