India create historic record.

They are the first team to reach this milestone.

On Day 3 of the first Test match against New Zealand, the Indian cricket team made history by accomplishing a tremendous feat that has never been done before in the 147-year history of the game. Virat Kohli's incredible six off Ajaz Patel made sure the hosts reached a historic mark.

Team India creates epic record

India became the first team in history to hit 100 sixes in a calendar year when Kohli turned back time, went for the kill, and hammered Patel over the long-on boundary. With the bat, the two-time World Test Championship (WTC) finalist had an incredible year, shattering multiple records.

Yashasvi Jaiswal led the charge with 26 maximums as Rohit Sharma-led team amassed an incredible 72 sixes in the home series against England earlier this year. With their remarkable performance in the Kanpur Test, the host team maintained their momentum against Bangladesh.

India has blasted five sixes so far in the second innings of the Bengaluru Test; three came from Sarfaraz Khan and one each from Rohit and Virat. With six Test matches remaining in 2024 once the current series is over, India has a great opportunity to break their own global record. This series has two more games remaining, plus four more when India visits Australia.

Regarding the game, New Zealand scored a massive 402 total while India was knocked out for 46 in the opening inning and gave up 356 run leads. At the end of Day 3, India are 231-3 at stumps and still 125 runs behind.
