KL Rahul misses an easy catch.

India vs New Zealand in the first Test of the three-match series at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru continued to be a forgettable affair for the hosts. During the first innings against New Zealand, KL Rahul had a major brain fade episode at the slips. The ball soared towards the slips, where KL Rahul and Virat Kohli were standing, after New Zealand skipper Tom Lathan knicked off a delivery from Mohammed Siraj in the 13th over of the game. However, KL Rahul did not go for it, and the ball passed him. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma was furious with Rahul for what appeared to be a brain-fade moment.

Rahul afterwards appeared to be saying that he could not spot the ball well. The 30-year-old at the third slip was taken aback when he failed to make the catch because he was unable to get his hands on the ball. Latham delivered the length delivery out from the body and outside the off-stump.

He attempted to punch it through cover-point, but it flew safely for four when he gained a thick edge closer to the second slip fielder's right. New Zealand also took the lead and overtook India's 46-run total with that boundary. KL Rahul got out for a duck earlier in the day, and India scored their lowest-ever total in the format at home.

But in the 18th over, Tom Latham was declared leg before wicket by Kuldeep Yadav, and he was soon removed. Latham was later dismissed by Kuldeep, who had previously bothered him, but the umpire chose not to call him out. However, Latham left the game after scoring fifteen runs, and Kuldeep insisted on a review that proved he was gone. Devon Conway, on the other hand, shot off with a blistering fifty off of just 54 balls and at the time of writing he is heading closer towards a century.
