New Zealand need 109 run to win first Test against India

Sarfaraz Khan scored 150 runs in first Test against New Zealand.

Indian captain Rohit Sharma along with Virat Kohli was involved in an on-field verbal spat with umpires during the first Test match against New Zealand at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. This happened after India's second inning when Jasprit Bumrah bowled four balls in his first over. It was bad light that forced the umpires to stop the game on Day 4 but Rohit along with the team were seen convincing the umpires to continue the game. 

However, New Zealand openers Tom Latham, and Devon Conway went back to the dressing room soon after the umpire signalled bad light. The groundsmen also covered the ground before heavy rain at the venue.

Coming back to the match, after getting bowled out for just 46 runs in the first innings. Sarfaraz's maiden hundred and Pant's impressive innings gave India a strong foundation in the second inning, but their dismissals triggered a rapid decline for the hosts. Resuming at 438 for six after tea, India quickly lost their last four wickets—Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammed Siraj—leading to the end of their innings in just 99.3 overs.

New Zealand are currently holding the edge as the side just needs 107 runs to win the first Test match against India.
