India batting great Virat Kohli has created history during the first ODI against New Zealand at BCA Stadium, Kotambi, Vadodara. The stylish batter becomes second highest run-getter in international cricket. The batting maestro surpassed Sri Lanka legend KC Sangakkara, who scored 28016 runs in his 623 appearances. Kohli, who is featuring for the 557th international outing, surpassed Sangakkara after scoring 43 runs. Notably, cricketing god Sachin Tendulkar is the highest run-getter in international cricket, amassing 34357 in his career. Sachin is also the player with the most hundreds (100) in cricket, followed by Kohli with 84 tons. Interstingly, Virat Kohli's daughter Vamika Kohli has turned five today.
Kohli's last outings
Kohli, who already retired from Tests and T20Is, has smashed two consecutive centuries against South Africa in his last assignment, and after that, he also represented Delhi in two Vijay Hazare Trophy matches where he amased one century in the opener clash.

Coming back to the first ODI, Kohli, who joined Shubman Gill after Rohit Sharma's wicket has notched a 91-run stand where the former India captain scored 50* off 44* and Shubman Gill contributed with 43 runs.

Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli felicitated
India's legendary batting duo Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli were also felicitated by the Baroda Cricket Association (BCA) during the innings break of the first ODI. Rohit and Virat were felicitated as the duo has immensely contributed to the success of Indian cricket and is now being rewarded for their efforts.
ICC chairman Jay Shah is also present at the occasion as both players receive the bouquet. Apart from the ICC Chair, BCA president Pranav Amin, senior officials from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) were also present. BCCI president Mithun Manhas, vice-president Rajeev Shukla, and India’s chief selector Ajit Agarkar are among the dignitaries attending the first ODI.
New Zealand's innings vs India
Earlier, Daryl Mitchell's powerful knock of 84, along with half-centuries from Devon Conway and Henry Nicholls, guided New Zealand to a competitive total of 300/8 in their 50 overs against India. After being asked to bat, Conway and Nicholls stitched together a steady 117-run opening stand, bringing up 50 in 10.1 overs and reaching the 100-run mark in 19.5 overs, putting early pressure on the Indian bowlers.
