Nandini Sharma got maiden WPL hat-trick against Gujarat Giants.

Nandini Sharma picked up a stunning maiden hat-trick, but it wasn’t enough as Sophie Devine stole the show to guide Gujarat Giants to a thrilling last-ball victory over Delhi Capitals in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026. Gujarat defeated Delhi to register their second consecutive win, while Delhi slipped to back-to-back losses.

Gujarat's batting

After being asked to bat, Gujarat got off to a flying start. Opener Sophie Devine was in sensational form, scoring 95 off just 42 balls, hitting seven fours and eight sixes. She shared a strong 94-run opening partnership with Beth Mooney (19) to set a solid platform for the team. Skipper Ashleigh Gardner kept the momentum going with a quickfire 49 off 26 balls, pushing Gujarat past the 200-run mark.

Delhi's chase

Delhi Capitals’ chase began in style. Lizelle Lee blazed 86 off 54 balls, smashing 12 fours and three sixes. She first added 41 runs with Shafali Verma (14) and then a crucial 90-run stand with Laura Wolvaardt (77 off 38), keeping Delhi in the hunt.

Delhi's batting order collapsed

However, wickets fell at key moments. Kashvee Gautam dismissed Lee in the 15th over, and Rajeshwari Gayakwad removed Chinelle Henry (7), leaving Delhi at 146 for three. With 64 needed off the last 25 balls, Jemimah Rodrigues (15) joined Wolvaardt, and together they scored 58 runs in 23 balls to reduce the target to seven off the final five deliveries.

Sophie Devine's iconic performance vs Delhi Capitals

Devine then returned in the last over to bowl a perfect finale. She dismissed both batters and gave away just two runs, sealing a dramatic four-run victory for Gujarat Giants.

Earlier, Devine had set the tone with her explosive strokeplay, taking apart Nandini Sharma and Sneh Rana, including an over of 32 runs with four consecutive sixes. Shree Charani broke the opening partnership in the ninth over, removing Mooney, while Nandini Sharma eventually dismissed Devine in the 11th over.

Nandini didn’t go quietly, though. She finished her spell in style, picking up four wickets in the final over, including three in consecutive balls to complete her first-ever hat-trick which is an incredible personal achievement in an unforgettable match.
