Former Pakistan skipper Mohammad Hafeez has reportedly become a victim of robbery. On Sunday night (early Monday morning) robbers stole foreign currency worth 20,000 dollars (Rs 16,38,000 approximately). According to the police report, robbers broke into Hafeez's residence in the middle on the night. At the time of robbery, the 42-year-old’s wife was not at home.

The police complaint was filed by Shahid Iqbal who is Hafeez's wife's uncle. There is no CCTV footage available of the incident. The amount stolen is nearly 12 per cent of Hafeez's salary. The platinum category player's salary is 170,000 dollars.

While bad news came from home, Hafeez did not let it affect his game. The all-rounder smashed an unbeaten 41 off just 18 deliveries including six fours and two sixes in Quetta Gladiators' record run chase on March 8 against Babar Azam-led Peshawar Zalmi at Pindi Club Ground, Rawalpindi.

Quetta Gladiators' in helped them stay alive in the tournament. This is their third win from nine matches. They are currently placed at fifth position in the points table.

Hafeez made his last international appearance in November 21. In T20 World Cup 2021 semi-final against Australia, Hafeez was a part of Pakistan side.

Hafeez is still Pakistan's highest run-scorer in T20I cricket. He scored 2,514 runs from 108 innings at an average of 26.46 including 14 half-centuries.

Hafeez is also nearing a milestone in T20 cricket. He needs 55 more runs to become third Pakistan batter after Shoaib Malik and Azam to score 8,000 or more runs in the format. This includes T20I cricket, domestic T20s and franchise cricket.

He will have a chance to breach the 8,000-run mark when Gladiators take on Multan Sultans on March 11 in Rawalpindi.
