Former Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi has pointed out the issues in Shaheen Afridi's bowling during the ongoing Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2023 season after his subpar performance for the Lahore Qalandars against the Karachi Kings on Sunday, February 19 at the National Stadium in Karachi.

The star Pakistani pacer, who recently married the daughter of Shahid, gave away 39 runs in his four overs, and also got the wicket of Ben Cutting as the Qalandars went on to lose the match by 67 runs and slipped to the bottom of the points table.

Afridi believes that Shaheen needs to learn from World Cup-winning legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram and the way he used to bowl in his prime. "I have been observing him and also had a chat with him. I think he is bowling too far away from the stumps. If you bowl from far away, it is a very big thing to bring the ball back in from there. It is not very easy," Afridi was quoted as saying on a local TV channel.

"I think he needs to make better use of the crease. He needs to bowl from close to the stumps. As we talk about Wasim Akram, he used to bring the bowl back in by bowling from close to the stumps. He was trying too hard, which is why he was expensive during the death overs. He was trying to bowl too many Yorkers, which turned into full tosses and he got hit for sixes," Shahid stated.

Adding to this, the former Pakistan skipper said, "He needs to watch his videos and correct his mistakes himself. He needs to remember the process from the time when he was doing well."

Shaheen was impressive against the Multan Sultans, led by Mohammad Rizwan. The side from Lahore beat them by one run in the tournament opener as Shaheen got the wicket of Rizwan and finished with figures of 4-0-27-1.
