Former Pakistan skipper Zaheer Abbas reckoned that Babar Azam should play domestic cricket and make his comeback after playing some good matches in domestic cricket. Babar is currently going through a rough patch in his career the 30-year-old batter last smashed an international century in Asia Cup 2023 against Nepal on August 30. He smashed 151 off 131 balls.
Babar who was rested from the Pakistan squad for the second and third Test matches against England due to his dismal outing in the first Test match. Babar's removal from the squad was slammed by many cricketers. However, Zaheer Abbas in an exclusive conversation with Sports Tak said that It happens sometimes cricketers have a bad patch.
"Sometimes they have a bad patch. It happens. It happens. But if you are not scoring runs, it's better that you should be dropped and come back after playing good matches in domestic cricket" Zaheer Abbas told Sports Tak.
Babar Azam who led Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2024 stepped down from ODI and T20I captaincy on October 02. Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced Mohammad Rizwan as his replacement to lead the side in white ball cricket.
Babar has been once again named in the squad for the upcoming Australia tour where the Men in Green will play a three-match ODI series followed by three-match T20Is scheduled to start from November 4 and will look to regain his form considering the upcoming Champions Trophy 2024.
