Kagiso Rabada issues warning for Australia months ahead of WTC 2025 final, says 'We know how to beat them'

South Africa on January 6 beat Pakistan by 10 wickets at Newlands, Cape Town and won the series 2-0. Kagiso Rabada who finished as the third-highest wicket-taker in the series said that the Proteas and Australia share an intense rivalry but they "know how to beat them". 

"It's actually quite some distance away, but a big occasion like the World Test Championship final gets you up for it," Rabada said on SuperSport after the comprehensive win over Shan Masood-led side.

 

 

"South Africa versus Australia has always been an intense rivalry, because we play cricket quite similar. We play hard - and they're going to come hard at us, and we know that. 

 

 

"But we also know how to beat them.

 

 

"One hundred per cent, Test cricket is still alive. It's our best format that we've been playing right now.

 

 

"When you look at South African cricket and all our legends, they've all been great Test cricketers. The world's best players are Test cricketers, and this series against Pakistan has been a wonderful advertisement for Test cricket, especially in South Africa."

 

 

The World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 final will be played at Lord's, London starting June 11.

Rabada's WTC 2023-25 numbers

Rabada has been South Africa's highest wicket-taker in the current WTC 2023-25 cycle. He has 47 wickets from 10 Tests at an average of 19.97 including three five-wicket hauls.

Rabada's record vs Australia

Rabada has a good record against Australia as well. He has taken 49 wickets from 10 Tests at an average of 23.08 including the best bowling figures of six wickets for 54 runs.

Rabada's numbers at Lord's

Rabada has done well at WTC 2023-25 final venue as well. He has played two Tests at Lord's and taken 13 wickets at an average of 19.38. His best bowling figures at the iconic venue is seven wickets for 79 runs.
