Ahead of India series, England batter smashes 371 to become 1st batter to do this in club's 150-year history
England batter Tom Banton registered the highest score for Somerset in first-class cricket as he scored 371 against Worcestershire.

Yet to make his Test debut, England batter Tom Banton created history in the County Championship Division One. He broke the record for the highest score by a Somerset batter in first-class history which was held by former Australian opener Justin Langer (342). 1. For Warwickshire, West Indies legend Brian Lara scored an unbeaten 501 against Durham at Edgbaston, Birmingham in 1994. Lara's unbeaten 501 is the highest score in first-class cricket history. The match ended in a draw.

2. In 1985, Lancashire captain Archie Maclaren scored 424 against Somerset. MacLaren batted for nearly eight hours and smashed 62 fours, one six. His record on England soil stood for more than a century. Lancashire won by an innings and 452 runs.

3. For Glamorgan, Sam Northeast scored an unbeaten 410 against Leicestershire. He hit 45 fours and 3 sixes in his marathon knock in 2022. Glamorgan won the match by an innings and 28 runs.

4. For Worcestershire in 1988, Graeme Hick scored an unbeaten 405 which was laced with 35 fours and 11 sixes. Worcestershire won by an innings and 214 runs.

5. Tom Banton is the latest entrant on the list with a 371-run knock. He played 403 balls and batted more eight hours and 40 minutes. His knock was laced with 56 fours and two sixes.
