India's top 5 run-getters in WTC 2023-25, huge difference between Yashasvi Jaiswal and second-placed batter
Opener Yashasvi Jaiswal is the only batter who managed to score more than 1,000 runs for India in the current WTC 2023-25 cycle.

Indian batters were not at their best in the World Test Championship (WTC) 2023-25 cycle. This is one major reason why India failed to retain Border-Gavaskar Trophy and got knocked out WTC final race. Here is the list of top 5 run-getters in WTC 2023-25 -

1. Young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal played 19 Tests and scored 1,798 runs at an average of 52.88. Jaiswal scored 4 centuries and 10 half-centuries. He hit as many as 39 sixes, most by any batter in the cycle.

2. Shubman Gill played 16 Tests and scored 972 runs at an average of 37.88 including three centuries and as many fifties. Gill did not cross the 100-run mark despite playing three Tests in the BGT 2024-25. In overall list, he is ranked 15th.

3. Indian skipper Rohit Sharma scored three centuries during the cycle but his average was a sub-par 28.80. The opener scored 864 runs from 17 Tests. He scored four half-centuries as well. He could score just 31 runs on Australia tour.

4. India's star batter Virat Kohli struggled in the current cycle. He missed the five-Test series against England at home due to personal reasons. He scored 751 runs from 14 Tests at an average of 32.65 including two centuries and three fifties.

5. Rishabh Pant missed several Tests as he recovered from an unfortunate car accident. The wicketkeeper-batter played 10 Tests and scored 677 runs at an average of 37.61. He scored one century and four fifties. He was dismissed for 99 against New Zealand in Bengaluru Test. His strike rate was an impressive 73.58.

Only two other Indian batters -- Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul -- scored more than 500 runs in the WTC 2023-25. Jadeja scored 664 runs from 15 Tests at an average of 31.61 including one century and four fifties. Rahul scored 615 runs from 11 Tests at an average of 34.16 including one century and four fifties.
