The South African batter Breetzke earlier made headlines earlier this year when he smashed 150 runs on his ODI debut against New Zealand in Lahore during the tri-nation series featuring Pakistan, South Africa and New Zealand to get prepared for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

Matthew Breetzke is a versatile batter. He featured as an opener in his ODI debut, later batted at number three in the next, and has now found success at number four.

Navjot Singh Sidhu had held the record for most consecutive 50+ scores at the start of an ODI career since 1987. However, his four fifties came across five matches. Breetzke broke his record by reaching the milestone in just four innings.
