Standing at a menacing six and a half feet, this lanky right-arm seamer seems like a clone of Australia’s great, Glenn McGrath. There is no dearth of young pacers who have moulded themselves on the Aussie legend so Peter George has his task cut out to stand out in the rat race of McGrath replicas.

The South Australian started playing for the Under-13 Torrens Club where his talent was noticed and he was awarded a rookie contract by South Australiat in 2005. In his debut match against Tasmania he impressed straight away with a four-fer and continued success followed him in his time ahead.

The youngster was then brought in as cover for Ryan Harris in Australia’s 2010 tour to New Zealand but didn’t feature in any of the games. With speeds that hover around the mid-130 kmph mark, George has an action that can generate disconcerting bounce due to his high-arm action. He has a strong in-swinger and the away-swinger is en route to being perfected.

George made his international debut after having impressed against Sri Lanka A, picking up 11 wickets in 2010, in a Test match against India.
