Story Highlights:

Yashasvi Jaiswal is not featuring for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy

Jaiswal will be unavailable for the remainder of the tournament

Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal is not a part of Mumbai's squad in their ongoing Ranji Trophy clash against Hyderabad. The left-hand batter had previously featured in one game of the tournament's first leg that was between Mumbai and Rajasthan. He had played a key role in the match ending as a draw and had recorded scores of 67 and 156 runs respectively.

Jaiswal got admitted to the hospital

Jaiswal was then picked in India's squad for the South Africa ODI series and thus, didn't play any other game in the Ranji Trophy. He did feature for the team in both the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy  (SMAT) and Vijay Hazare Trophy (VHT) before being admitted to the hospital for food poisoning in December. He ended up losing 2KG in just two days and had been diagnosed with acute Gastroenteritis. Though he was discharged soon, he did miss games for both Mumbai and India.

Sports Tak has learned that Jaiswal's gastro issue has reemerged and he had underwent tests a few days back. He will be consulting the doctor again soon and a call on his return to action will be taken as per the assessment of his treatment. The 24-year-old will be unavailable for the remainder of the Ranji Trophy, leaving a massive void in Mumbai's batting order.

Alongside Jaiswal, Ajinkya Rahane will also not be available from the remainder of the Ranji Trophy due to personal reasons. The batter had previously stepped down as Mumbai's captain prior to the 2025-26 season and has played limited matches in domestic cricket. While he did feature for Mumbai in the SMAT, he was totally absent from the team's campaign in the VHT.

“Both Rahane and Jaiswal are not available for the remaining two matches of the Ranji Trophy season. Rahane will not be available due to personal reasons,” a senior MCA official had told PTI.

Sarfaraz's stunning double-hundred

Meanwhile, Mumbai took control of their Ranji Trophy clash against Hyderabad thanks to a double-century from Sarfaraz Khan. The batter played a scintillating knock of 227 runs from 219 deliveries as the side posted a mammoth total of 560 on the board in their first innings.
