Mumbai batter Yashasvi Jaiswal played a stunning knock of 156 against Rajasthan in the third round of Ranji Trophy. at the Sawai Mansingh stadium in Jaipur. This was a much-needed knock for Mumbai as their opponents had taken a humongous lead by posting a mammoth first-inning total on the board. Deepak Hooda had slammed an incredible double-hundred and Kartik Sharma had also played a fine knock of 139 as the hosts posted a total of 617/6 before declaring.

However, Mumbai had finished the third day on a strong note as openers Jaiswal and Musheer Khan had remained unbeaten on 56 and 39 respectively. They had formed a strong partnership of 89 runs by the end of the day and took the side's score over the 100-run mark as Day 4 progressed. Eventually, pacer Aniket Choudhary would get the much-needed breakthrough for Rajasthan and would do so by dismissing Musheer for 63 as the opening stand was broken for 149 runs.

Jaiswal brings up 1000 runs for Mumbai in Ranji

Despite the setback, Jaiswal continued dominating on the Jaipur pitch and went on to bring up his century after facing 120 deliveries, scoring 11 boundaries. This was Jaiswal's fifth century in 21 innings for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy and it saw him cross the 1000-run mark for the side in the domestic tournament.

After Mumbai lost Ajinkya Rahane cheaply for 18 runs, the duo of Jaiswal and Siddhesh Lad went on to form a valiant partnership where the former was clearly the aggressor. He soon went on to surpass the 150-run mark, but couldn't go too far from that point and lost his wicket to left-arm spinner Ajay Kookna for 156 runs. His inning included 18 boundaries and a six, helping Mumbai to not face even an ounce of pressure from the oppoing bowlers during Day 4.

Jaiswal to come up against SA bowlers soon

Meanwhile, Jaiswal will now be shifting his focus from the domestic circuit to the upcoming two-match home Test series against South Africa  that will commence from November 14. Though India's squad for the assignment hasn't been announced as of yet, the 23-year-old will likely be a part of it. The century against Rajasthan will definitely give Jaiswal a lot of confidence heading into the assignment against the Proteas and he will be looking to continue his stellar form in red-ball cricket during the series.
