Haryana pacer Anshul Kamboj made history on Friday by becoming only the third bowler in Ranji Trophy history to take all 10 wickets in a single innings.

Facing Kerala on Day 3 of their fifth-round match in Lahli, Kamboj tore through Kerala’s batting lineup, removing all four half-centurions by tea to reach this rare milestone. During the spell, he also surpassed the 50-wicket mark in First-Class cricket in just his 19th game.

Starting the day with eight wickets already to his name, Kamboj quickly bowled out Basil Thampi in the first over to secure his ninth. He claimed his 10th wicket by dismissing Shoun Roger, wrapping up Kerala’s innings at 291. Kamboj’s final figures were a remarkable 30.1 overs, 9 maidens, 49 runs, and 10 wickets.

Anshul Kamboj has entered the Ranji Trophy record books as only the third bowler to claim all 10 wickets in a single innings, following Premangsu Mohan Chatterjee and Pradeep Sunderam. Chatterjee first achieved this milestone for Bengal in the 1956-57 season, while Sunderam took all 10 wickets for Rajasthan against Vidarbha in 1985-86.

Kamboj’s performance also makes him just the sixth Indian bowler to secure a 10-wicket haul in First-Class cricket, joining the elite ranks of Anil Kumble, Subhash Gupte, and Debasis Mohanty, among others.

A rising star, Kamboj represented India A at the ACC Emerging Asia Cup in Oman and had a similarly impressive showing in the Duleep Trophy, where he became only the third pacer to take an eight-wicket haul in that tournament, following Mohanty and Ashoke Dinda.

Kamboj gained further attention during the previous domestic season, contributing to Haryana’s first Vijay Hazare Trophy win with 17 wickets from 10 matches. Ahead of his 2024 IPL debut with the Mumbai Indians, Kamboj has claimed 23 wickets in 15 List-A games and has previously played in just nine T20 matches.
