Maharashtra's reply was robust, led by an unbeaten 80 by Ruturaj Gaikwad, but they are still behind by 173 runs in their Group A Ranji Trophy encounter against Mumbai. The reigning champions Mumbai had earlier bundled out Maharashtra for a meager 126 runs, taking a commanding 315-run lead after scoring 441 in their opening innings. Tripura made a tremendous comeback from early losses in a rain-affected encounter to reach 346 for 6 at stumps on Day 2. The innings' standout player was Sridam Paul, who scored 146 off 178 balls (20 fours, 2 sixes). Mura Singh (53*), S Sharath (54*), and captain Mandeep Singh (59) provided him with strong support. Odisha's hopes were preserved at Cuttack by Govinda Poddar's unbeaten 87 as the team finished the day at 198 for 5, still behind Jammu & Kashmir by 72 runs in the first innings.
