Hyderabad's Tanmay Agarwal ran riot after blasting First-Class triple hundred in the Ranji Trophy match against Arunachal Pradesh on January 26.
Tanmay Agarwal took just 147 balls to notch his triple hundred at the NexGen Cricket Ground in Hyderabad.
Agarwal apparently busted the previous record held by South Africa's Marco Marais, who scored a 300 in 191 balls for Border against Eastern Province in 2017. Moreover, Tanmay Agarwal broke the 39-year-old record of former Indian captain Ravi Shastri for the fastest First-Class double hundred by an Indian, achieving the 200-run mark in only 119 balls. This feat also stands as the second-fastest First-Class double century in history. Tanmay also broke the Indian record set by Virender Sehwag with this spellbinding knock. Sehwag had scored a triple century against South Africa in 278 balls.
At the end of Day 1's play, Agarwal was unscathed on 323 off 160 balls riding on 21 sixes, setting a new Ranji Trophy record for the most sixes in a single innings. The previous record, 14 sixes, was held by Ishan Kishan in India's premier domestic tournament. Agarwal, along with captain Rahul Singh Gahlaut, forged a massive 440-run partnership for the first wicket in just 40.2 overs. Gahlaut was eventually dismissed for 185 off 105 balls by Techi Doria.
