India batter Abhishek Sharma is on the brink of shattering Virat Kohli's 9-year-old T20 record. It has been nothing short of a terrific year for Abhishek when it comes to the shortest format as he has scored a total of 1533 runs in 39 T20s so far in 2025. He is now just 87 runs away from breaking Virat's record for the Indian with the most T20 runs in a calendar year.
Notably, Kohli had scored 1614 runs in T20 cricket in 2016, hitting four hundreds and 14 half-centuries. Abhishek still has three matches to play in India's ongoing T20I series against South Africa and thus, has a big chance to achieve the milestone. He will be featuring in the third T20I of the assignment that will be held in Dharamsala on December 14.
