Proteas bulldozed India by 408 runs in the second Test in Guwahati, and with this they swept the series 2-0. However, the final loss in Guwahati handed India a greater setback, marking their biggest Test defeat by a run margin. During India's second innings collapse in the Guwahati Test, only Ravindra Jadeja managed to register a score of note, contributing 54 runs, as the remaining batters struggled massively which chasing a colossal target of 549. Simon Harmer and Keshav Maharaj combined to fold India for 140. Harmer picked up 6/37 in the second innings of the final Test, finishing the match with a superb total of nine wickets. Harmer's performance throughout the series was exceptional; he dismissed a total of 17 Indian batters across the two Tests, setting a new record for the most wickets taken by a South African bowler in a Test series played in India.
