India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal scored his maiden ODI century in the series decider against South Africa. As Jaiswal celebrated his century, Virat Kohli was on the other end. Kohli asked Jaiswal to do a specific celebration and the youngster obliged.
For context, Kohli has been teasing Jaiswal for his hairstyle which is similar to that of Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s 22-year-old movie ‘Tere Naam’. The celebration he referred to is from the song ‘Lagan Lagi’.
At the Agenda AajTak 2025, Jaiswal was asked about the viral celebration. The southpaw lauded senior player Kohli's sense of humour.
“There is this song that goes 'lagan lagan,' and paaji (Virat Kohli) was doing the steps and also told me to do the same. I said, 'Okay, I will do it.' That moment was really very nice. Paaji's sense of humour is unbelievable. Whenever he is around, I have so much fun. He picks things up very quickly, and it is always enjoyable being with him,” Jaiswal said.
Jaiswal on Ro-Ko’s impact in his Visakhapatnam ton
In the run chase of 271, Jaiswal did not get off to a blazing start. But, opener Rohit Sharma made up for it and took the pressure of him. The 23-year-old talked about how Ro-Ko helped him navigate the run chase.
“It was all very special. When I started my innings, I was a little nervous because I had played only two matches before this. I was trying to convert my start. If you see, Rohit bhai talked to me a lot. He was explaining how I could play, what I could do. I was under pressure too because quite a few dot balls were happening, and I also had to think about keeping the run rate good. He told me, 'You play calmly till I tell you. I will take the risks.' You can see how big-hearted he is. He was taking more risks and wanted me to just keep batting and settling. Later, once the ball started coming nicely onto my bat, I could start controlling the run rate,” Jaiswal said.

“And then when paaji (Virat Kohli) came, he was doing the same, telling me to keep playing, giving me small targets, telling me how we would focus from here and finish the match. The mindset was clear: we have to win the match for India. We kept thinking how deep we could bat and make sure we finish the game. So yes, it was a very special moment for me, extremely special. It will always stay in my mind. Of course, it was my first ODI hundred, so I enjoyed it a lot,” he added.
Jaiswal remained unbeaten for 116 off 121 deliveries, featuring 12 fours and a couple of sixes. Rohit departed after scoring 75 runs from 73 deliveries. Kohli remained not out for a 45-ball 65 as India chased down the target of 271 with 61 balls to spare.
