Riding on the back of a scintillating centurion knock in the first ODI, the King Kohli returned to hammer one more in Raipur on December 3. But what caught everyone's attention was head coach Gautam Gambhir's reaction after the batting juggernaut's 102-run knock.

Following up his century in the Ranchi opener with another sensational hundred, reaching the landmark in just 90 balls. This feat extended his record to 53 centuries in the format, further silencing any lingering critics. The outstanding performance has also propelled Kohli up the ICC ODI batting rankings, placing him just 32 rating points behind current number one, Rohit Sharma, as he closes in on reclaiming the top spot. Kohli was the world's premier ODI batter for an extended period, holding the number one position for over three years towards the end of the last decade. However, he has not occupied the top spot since he was displaced by Pakistan's Babar Azam in April 2021.
