India’s wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan has been put under medical examination after the second T20I, according to ANI. Kishan was hit on the helmet by a nasty bouncer from Sri Lankan pacer Lahiru Kumara. The southpaw removed his helmet and immediately went down. The physio rushed to Kishan's aid and concussion test. However, after clearing the mandatory concussion check, Kishan was cleared to play on.  Later, Kishan was taken to hospital, in Kangra.

Injury in Sri Lanka team

Along with Kishan, Sri Lanka wicketkeeper-batter Dinesh Chandimal was also taken to hospital as a part of precautionary measures after an injury.

The southpaw could not inflict much damage with the bat as he got out to Kumara on the first ball of the sixth over. He could score only 16 runs from 15 deliveries.

Successful run chase

Despite Kishan losing his wicket early, India managed to chase down 184-run target in the 17th over, thanks to Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 74, Ravindra Jadeja’s quickfire 45 not out and Sanju Samson’s 39-run knock in the middle-order. For Sri Lanka, their bowler Kumara was the highest wicket-taker as he scalped two wickets in the match conceding 31 runs in 3 overs but his bowling efforts did not help much as eventually the Indian team claimed the second T20I match by 7 wickets, with 17 balls remaining.

Earlier, batting first, the visitors registered a total of 183 runs losing 5 wickets. Their opener Pathum Nissanka started the batting on a solid note as he scored 75 runs off 53 balls. His innings was comprised of 11 boundaries. Later, their skipper Dassun Shanaka scored a quick-fire 47 runs off just 19 balls. Shanaka smashed 5 sixes and 2 boundaries.

Earlier in the first T20I, Kishan scored 89 runs which is also the highest by an Indian wicketkeeper-batter in the format. Recently, Kishan was also bought back for a whopping Rs 15.25 crore by Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise after an intense bidding war with Sunrisers Hyderabad in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 mega auction.

The third and final T20I match of the series will take place on February 27 (Sunday), in Dharamsala.

After the completion of the three-match T20I series, Indian team under the leadership of newly-appointed Test team skipper Rohit Sharma will take on Sri Lanka in a two-match Test series.
