10 sixes, 114 runs; Ishan Kishan makes solid statement for International comeback with stunning century in Buchi Babu Tournament

India wicketkeeper batter who is out of action since 2024 Indian Premier League (IPL) has scored 114 runs for  Jharkhand in their opening round of the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, India wicket-keeper Ishan Kishan smashed a blistering hundred against Madhya Pradesh in Thirunelveli on Friday.

 

After losing the central contract, Kishan is currently leading Jharkhand for the Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament, he scored a mammoth 114 off 105 after coming to bat at number six on the second day to chase 225 runs. He played calculated shots before his half-century after that he tore bowlers apart to smash the century. He smashed 10 sixes and brought up his ton on the back of consecutive maximums as Jharkhand overhauled Madhya Pradesh’s first-innings total. 

 

Ishan was part of India's ODI World Cup 2023 squad and after the tournament, he asked for a break after the 2023 season experiencing travel fatigue. After that, he missed his central contract and missed all the cricketing action. Shreyas Iyer was also snubbed from the central contract list. Kishan is yet to make his international comeback.

“I was scoring runs and then I found myself on the bench. These things do happen in a team sport. But I experienced travel fatigue. It meant there was something wrong, I was not feeling well or right and so I decided to take a break. However, sadly, barring my family and few close people no one understood that,” Kishan told The Indian Express in an exclusive interview as he explained his decision to take a break from the national set-up.
