BCCI vice-president has clearly stated that India's upcoming ODI series against Australia won't be Rohit Sharma and V irat Kohli's last. The duo are set to make their much-awaited return to international cricket in the three-match one-day assignment against the Baggy Greens that is set to commence from November 19. There have been a lot of speculations regarding the two's ODI future and there is still no guarantee as to if they will feature in the 2027 ODI World Cup.
However, Shukla has full confidence in the stalwarts and believes that they will help India in defeating Australia in the upcoming ODI series. Both Rohit and Virat haven't played for India in any format since the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy final against New Zealand in March and will be eager to make a strong comeback.
"It is going to benefit us a lot. They are great batsmen. We will succeed in defeating Australia with them in the team. It is absolutely wrong to say that this is their last ODI series. It depends on the players as to when they have to retire," Shukla told ANI.
What is Rohit and Virat's record in ODIs held in Australia?
Rohit and Virat do have a fine record when it comes to ODIs in Australia. They have dominated opposing bowling attacks with the bat and have played multiple memorable knocks on pitches there. On one hand, Rohit has 1328 runs under his name in the 30 ODIs that he has played Down Under while on the other, Kohli is just a whisker away from him at 1327 runs in 29 ODIs. Both have five ODI hundreds each while batting in the country.
