Gurkeerat Singh Mann, who represented India in three ODIs, announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on November 10 (Friday). The 33-year-old announced his decision on social media and thanked the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and Punjab Cricket Association for their constant support throughout his cricketing journey. In 3 ODIs, he could score just 13 runs.
"Today marks the end of an incredible cricketing journey for me. It has been an honour and a privilege to represent India. My heart is filled with gratitude for the support from my family, friends , coaches and my fellow players," Mann wrote on Instagram.
"Each one of you played a pivotal role in my career. I would also like to thank BCCI and PCA for their constant support, guidance and encouragement I’ve got throughout my journey. Here's to the next chapter!" he added.
Gurkeerat burst onto the scene in 2011 in the shortest format of the game. From thereon, he represented Punjab in all three formats of the game. For almost a decade, the right-handed batter was a mainstay in Punjab's middle-order and played several noticeable knocks.
In 119 T20s, the attractive batter scored 1,986 runs at a strike rate of 123.66. He also bagged eight wickets in the shortest format of the game. In 95 List A matches, Gurkeerat scored 3,369 runs with the help of 25 half-centuries and five tons. In 59 First-Class matches, he scored 3,471 with the help of 20 half-centuries and seven hundreds. In List A cricket, he bagged 33 wickets while in First-Class cricket he accounted for 55 wickets.
Talking about his Indian Premier League (IPL) career, Gurkeerat scored 511 runs in 41 matches at a strike rate of 121.09. He scored two half-centuries in the cash-rich tournament. He also bagged five wickets in IPL.
