On the opening day of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2025, Arjun Tendulkar, son of legendary Sachin Tendulkar, opened the batting for Goa in their clash against Uttar Pradesh at Jadavpur University Campus, Kolkata. Tendulkar contributed with a 22-ball 28 cameo before falling to Uttar Pradesh pacer Shivam Mavi who has represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) for three Indian Premier League (IPL) seasons.
Opening the innings alongside, Ishaan Gadekar, Tendulkar hit four fours in his 22-ball 28. While Gadekar was knocked over by Bhuvneshwar Kumar for a 10-ball 16, Tendulkar shared a 55-run partnership for the second wicket with Abhinav Tejrana. When he departed, Goa were 75/2 in 7.3 overs.
Tejrana went on to score 72 runs from 35 deliveries. He hit four fours and six sixes in his knock. Vipraj Nigam dismissed him in the 15th over. Goa could not post a big total on the board. Bhuvneshwar got two wickets whereas Mavi struck thrice. Both bowlers had a good economy rate. Goa managed to post 172/9 on the board as Vikash Singh contributed with an unbeaten 14-ball 21 cameo.
Arjun Tendulkar finds a new home in Lucknow
After a few seasons with Mumbai Indians (MI), Tendulkar was traded to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) for Rs 30 lakh ahead of the mini-auction. He will play under the leadership of Rishabh Pant.
In the IPL, he has batted just once and scored 13 runs from nine balls faced.
