Bangladesh women's team head coach Sarwar Imran on September 29 suffered a minor brain stroke in Colombo, where the team is gearing up for their Women's World Cup 2025 campaign opener against Pakistan.
As per a report by ESPNCricinfo, Bangladesh team's manager SM Golam Faiyaz has confirmed that he is out of danger and currently in a stable condition.
"(Sarwar) Imran sir was feeling dizzy a couple of days ago, and it continued on Monday. We took him to the hospital where the doctors detected he had a minor brain stroke," said Faiyaz.
Imran was discharged from the hospital on September 30. He is currently recovering in the team hotel. The team manager further revealed that the coach wanted to be at the team's training session on the day he was released from the hospital.
"We asked sir to rest today," Faiyaz said. "He is hopeful of going to the ground with us tomorrow (Wednesday)."
The 66-year-old took over the reigns earlier this year from former Sri Lanka captain Hashan Tillakaratne.
Imran has had a coaching sting with Bangladesh men's team when they got their Test status in 2000.
Bangladesh vs Pakistan head-to-head
This is going to be Bangladesh's second appearance in Women's ODI World Cup. They will go up against an in-form Fatima Sana-led Pakistan. They have beaten Pakistan in seven out of 16 times, lost eight whereas one ended in a tie. The last time they beat Pakistan in ODIs was in 2023. They registered a seven-wicket comprehensive win at home.
