Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to begin from November 26

India T20I captain Suryakumar Yadavb has confirmed his availability for Mumbai in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy (SMAT) that will commence from November 26. Alongside him, Shivam Dube will also be available for the T20 tournament and this will be nothing short of a massive boost for the Mumbai team. Both the players are regulars in India's T20I set-up and are expected to play key roles in the 2026 T20 World Cup.

Mumbai chief selector Sanjay Patil confirmed the development and said both Suryakumar and Dube will be available for the entire competition. He clarified that it is yet to be decided whether Suryakumar will get Mumbai's captaincy for the tournament or not and further revealed that the team will be selected by Friday, November 21.

“I spoke to Surya this afternoon and he told me that he will be available for the entire tournament. So, is the case with Shivam. We will pick the team on Friday," Patil told Sportstar.

“We will have a discussion tomorrow and decide on the future course of action. For now, we will pick the side keeping in mind the fact that both Surya and Shivam will be available," he added.

Suryakumar and Dube likely to miss league games

However, it is unlikely that Suryakumar and Dube will be available for league games of the SMAT as they will be with the Indian team for the five-match T20I series against South Africa that will commence from December 9. Mumbai, will begin their campaign with a clash against Railways that will be held on November 26.

They have 24 points under their name so far and have looked to be totally dominant in the games that they have played so far. With the first led of the tournament concluded, the action from Ranji Trophy will resume from January 22, 2026.
